Legislation & Legal Opinion Commission

We were tasked to get out the vote in support of the national parliamentary elections in Bahrain, overseen by the Legislation & Legal Opinion Commission (LLOC). A diverse and divided population, we needed to generate interest and support for the elections and the public power of voting for change.

Challenge

Getting people to vote is no easy task at the best of times and Bahrain found itself not in the best of times, shortly after the events of 2011. Thus, our job, from the LLOC was to convince the Bahraini people that voting was worthwhile and that their votes could really count and that they could make a difference.

Approach

Given the circumstances of a dubious population, we developed a multimedia strategy and campaign that was predicated on a message of change and power. We led a digital campaign that included influencer and mainstream media endorsements as well as ongoing conversations about voting and the elections.

Outcome

  • 8,000,000+ positive messages and hashtag mentions on X alone
  • 53% voter turnout
  • 1000s of column inches in advertising in print media
  • 25 types of marketing merchandise produced
